I literally just poked at the dealer lettering as you would with a clump of dirt. They came off with almost no effort and left no residue.

If I had left them on any longer, I bet some would have fallen off and the rest would have been baked on.

I still don’t know why it’s such a thing. Oddly when I was in California, they only did plate frames. The first time I came out east and say a big chrome plate stuck on a trunk I thought “if someone did that to my car I’d kick their ass!”. It’s like buying a cup from Walmart and having a big Walmart sticker stuck to the side.

That’s sad. I gues some OE’s don’t go 3M

Dealer lettering? How nice of them NOT to force you to use a screwdriver and then you gotta go out and buy touch-up paint....

Alphabet soup! Just put those in a bowl with a spoon and some motor oil!

I took the dealer badges off my car about 3 days after I got it, though they used a pretty good sticker, so I have one spot that I’ll have to work on a little more (leftover residue).

License plate frame is still on there for now... I might actually replace it with something.

I’m also thinking of actually removing some of the OEM lettering as well. Not sure I like “CANYON” emblazoned on either front door.

As a California native, it blew my mind when I saw this on the East Coast. Plate Frames are fine. I can take them off. And in fact, some of the older ones were really nice metal and engraved name plates. I even considered getting some retro frames for my new truck but ebay wanted $40.

Why would you use a screwdriver?

It’s not OE... it’s letters that the dealer sticks on there as free advertising for them for buying the car from them. Like this crap. They do it out east.

Yeah I don’t come home with those. Dealer can take them off. I’ve offered for them to leave them on if they’re willing to take 50 bucks off my monthly payment to cover their advertising cost. Being in advertising I know that’s a hell of a lot of ad impressions on all the potential driving customers that pull up behind me or see me in a parking lot. Advertising isn’t free. They promptly removed their decal and were not interested in negotiating my rate for some reason....

That’s Rick Case? They give like a 20 year warranty. Wouldn’t shame that.

There are a few local dealers here that put on:

Dealer stickers, giant billboard on the rear of the car.

Window banner along the top of the rear window

License plate frame

I’m sure I’m forgetting other things. My brother in law STILL hasn’t removed the roughly 6"x10" chrome dealership placard on the back of his Golf R.

I wish everybody would stop with the stickers. It still happens here in Indiana even at the larger dealerships. I’ve noticed in other places they’ve strayed away from it more.
